The first dinner theater in the USA opened in 1962 and audiences have been flocking to them ever since. Minnesota’s Chanhassen dinner theater opened its doors six years later, and today is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary. Through the year top notch plays are hosted there.
The theater isn’t just a single room. The 90,000 square foot complex boasts multiple theaters and dining rooms. The largest room is the Main Dinner Theater. The capacity is 541 people. That doesn’t sound like a lot for a theater, but consider this includes tables and booths where meals are served along with the stage performance. The complex includes other theater rooms such as the Playhouse Theater and Fireside Theater. There is also a Director’s Room which overlooks the Main Dinner Theater in what is this facility’s version of a sports stadium sky box . Private parties take place in the Main Dinner Theater where people can also watch the play from above the room. Weddings are frequently held in the many dining facilities, and people love to visit the lounge and pub.
The Playhouse Theater has its own special story. That theater began hosting the play ‘I Do! I Do!’ in 1971. The run lasted all the way to 1993. To top off 22 years of entertaining there, the play boasted the same cast from opening day to the last curtain call. Chanhassen built it’s fame on that play with 700,000 total viewers, 125 watching at a time.

If you own a dog and you love him very much, you may want to take some time to strengthen the relationship between you two. Playing is a great way of doing this. Especially playing fetch.
Some dogs know instinctively how to play fetch. Other dogs need to be taught. Luckily, dog training for playing fetch is a fairly simple process. You need to stick to a few simple guidelines for a couple of weeks. The three simple guidelines are listed below.
1. Your dog needs to pay attention to a ball that you want him to fetch. After all, if he’s not paying attention, he’ll never chase after it. In order to teach your doggy to become interested in a ball, praise him whenever he sniffs it or pays attention to it in any way. The objective is to teach your dog he will get a reward every time he follows the ball.
2. After your doggy learns paying attention to the ball, he needs to learn to pick it up. Should your doggy pick up the ball all by himself, simply continue petting and praising him. If your doggy doesn’t pick up the ball by himself, smear some peanut butter or meat paste on there. Then, every time he picks up the ball, continue praising him and give him a dog treat.
3. Now that your dog chases after and then picks up the ball, you need to teach him to let go of the ball. Once your dog has picked up the ball a few feet away from you, you can lure him back with a treat. Once he arrives with the ball still in his mouth, give him the treat. He will likely drop the ball in order to make place for his dog treat. Should your dog lose his interest in dog treats throughout the training, you can use a second ball to entice him to drop one for the other.
After about a week of repeating these simple steps, you can try a few fetches out in the field. Take your dog into the yard or any other area with enough open space, and throw the ball a short distance away. If your dog has understood his fetch training, he will eventually chase the ball, pick it up and take it back to you. Every time he gets it right, praise him and give him a dog treat. Then, throw the ball a little further.
If you stick to these simple training steps, your doggy should learn to play fetch in a matter of days or weeks. In time, your doggy will likely gain a better understanding of what playing fetch is all about. The game then becomes its own reward and you won’t have to stock up on dog treats anymore.

Just how many formal dinners have I attended and what business do I have doing so? Lets just say there are diplomats in my family. Indeed, when Im reaching for the wrong fork or knife, it feels like I may start an international incident. When I have gaffed in the past, I was at once relived to think I might not be invited to a formal dinner again. Alas.
Let’s dive right in, shall we? The golden rule with regards to the array of utensils is this: work you way in, towards your plate. All too easy, but pay attention! You must stay abreast of which course is currently being served. This can be vexing as other guests may choose to pass on a course, which is best done by discretely covering your place setting or waving away the servers. Knives and spoons are typically placed to the right of the place setting, while forks are placed to the left. Glasses, cups, and saucers are placed to the right, above the utensils, but you generally dont need to worry about them as the servers will remove or refill them, as the dinner requires. Another rule to obey, lest your plunge the world into World War Three, is to keep the cutting edge of your knives facing your plate.
What about serving yourself from a platter on the table? Ha! Nonsense! Truly formal affairs are served from the kitchen directly. Only the centerpiece and the place settings belong on the table ” like I said, that goes for your elbows too. Keep them off the table ” if you must balance yourself against the table, only your forearms are acceptable, and only then, occasionally. Otherwise someone might call the paramedics for fear youre having an episode and are in danger of passing out.
As the courses wind down, hey will culminate in dessert and coffee. If youve made it this far, you are doing well ” treat yourself to a brief forearm lean. You may have made it through this formal dinner, but bear in mind he placement of utensils and plates and glasses and bowls can all be altered, depending on who is hosting. In some countries, the dinnerware is arranged from left to right, sometimes the forks are placed to he right and the knives to he left.
